Eco Sym is an interactive installation designed to simulate a small scale New Zealand marine ecosystem. The installation allows users to manipulate the population (or biomass) of the creature onscreen via a Kinect sensor. By interacting with Eco Sym, users can observe the cascading effects if their actions in dynamic real-time, develop an understanding of the power we have over our environment, and realize the responsibility we have to keep it afloat.
This project was done as a group Bachelor of Creative technologies, Studio project. The underlying theme of the project was to develop or interoperate an aspect of area of a network. Eco Sym was designed and created over the period of a semester with each team member developing their own production role area, and bringing it together as a collaborative to produce this final result.
